TRAIN TO BREATHE

In my previous blogs I have mentioned the importance and the benefits of breathing.

However, in this blog I want you to start practising. I have mentioned a few set of breathing exercises which I would recommended each one of you to practice in the prescribed way. If you are new to Yoga and wish to alter, I would then recommend you to consult an experienced coach. Also remember that these breathing exercises are to be done after your regular workout if any, and not before. It’s because this will help the energy to flow more freely within the body, and also in retaining. Thus, gradually increasing the energy levels within the body.

Exercise ONE

Inhale your breath slowly and deeply, hold for second and exhale with force.

You can do a set of 7-11 counts each day.

Beneficial during cold weather.

Exercise TWO

Close the right nostril using either your last two/three fingers or the thumb, depending on which hand you’d use. Inhale through your left nostril, hold your breath for few seconds and exhale through your right. Now, inhale through the right, hold for few seconds and exhale through the left. That’s one complete set.

You can do a set of 10 each day.

More beneficial during hot weather.

Exercise THREE

Close the left nostril using your fingers, Inhale through your right nostril, hold your breath for few seconds and exhale through the left. Now, inhale through the left, hold your breath for few seconds and release through the right.

You can do a set of 5 each day.

More beneficial during cold weather.

Exercise FOUR

Inhale your breath using both your nostrils hold for 15 seconds to start with and then release slowly. Later, increase the hold duration by 5-10 seconds, slowing reaching to few minutes in the long run.

Beneficial during all weather conditions.
